Our client, a prominent utility service provider, focuses on delivering comprehensive multi-utility solutions, including electricity, gas, water services, and EV charging. They operate extensively across the South and Midlands, working on projects such as residential developments and large industrial and commercial setups. With a commitment to innovation and sustainability, they integrate data collection and advanced technologies into their services, making them a leader in the utility sector. We are seeking a Business Development Manager (BDM) for the M&E/Consultants channel. This role involves delivering on-target multi-utility (MU) sales in the South and Midlands, developing and nurturing a sustainable client and project pipeline, and leveraging cross-selling opportunities across the wider product set, including EV charges, metering, and data services. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in electric and multi-utility connection works and experience working closely with M&E businesses and consultants.
Job Responsibility:
Exceed monthly sales, margin, and KPI targets
Generate and manage a self-discovered opportunity pipeline
Collaborate with the Estimating and Technical Solutions team to ensure proposals and tender packs are of the highest standard
Follow through proposals to conversion, providing detailed feedback and win/loss analysis
Lead on M&E tendering activities and customer negotiations
Build and maintain strong relationships with M&E customers
Work closely with other divisions to maximize client reach and overall company success
Provide accurate market and sales reports to drive business development activity
Stay ahead of industry best practices and participate in regular training to maintain and develop skills
Adhere to company policies, procedures, and working practices, ensuring health and safety compliance
Requirements:
2+ years’ experience working closely with or within the M&E sector
Proven background in ICP/UIP/IDNO/IGT utilities business development
Strong understanding of electric/multi-utility connection works for both residential and commercial developments
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Demonstrable knowledge of sales and marketing techniques, and sales and tender management, including customer negotiation and commercial risk mitigation
