The luggage porter plays a pivotal role as one of the initial points of contact for arriving guests, providing a warm welcome and exemplary service from the moment they step through the door. Tasked with the careful handling of guests' belongings, the porter ensures that luggage is transported securely to guest rooms with meticulous attention to detail. Beyond mere logistics, they offer invaluable assistance to guests, whether it be providing local recommendations, arranging transportation, or addressing any inquiries promptly and courteously. Working collaboratively with fellow hotel staff, the porter embodies professionalism and dedication, striving to exceed guest expectations and contribute to the seamless operation of the hotel.
Job Responsibility:
Greets all guests at the Front Door politely and courteously and guides them towards the reception desk or function rooms
Acknowledge and greet all guests even if you cannot assist them immediately
Assists the guests with loading and unloading of their vehicle or taxi
Assists guests with their luggage for both check-ins and check-outs
Follows the current Rooming Procedure, including briefing guest on usage of light switches, TV, radio, internet, mini bar and telephone facilities in the room
Ensures that all guest property is safely handled and/or stored in the Luggage Room
Keeps the lobby area neat and orderly
Participates in group luggage handling, distribution and collection
Replaces Doorman at the door, whenever and if necessary
Carries out errands or shopping requests for guests at the request of the Concierge
Delivers newspapers, parcels and messages promptly and within the standards
Engages in moving luggage from one room to another in the case of a room move as per procedure
Updates Arrival / Departure Traffic Sheets accurately and the Long-Term Storage book
Attends to guest needs and queries and refers complaints to Supervisor/Manager
Performs related duties and special projects as assigned
Handles vehicle parking for guests as per procedure
Attend all trainings scheduled
Assist the Concierge in ensuring that guests are charged for valet parking and that the moneys are kept safe as per department standards
Be aware of the location of the Hotel and be able to direct guests to and from the Hotel
Participate in the Sofitel Candle Ritual
Assist the Concierge with guest queries, whenever they are busy
Organises and delivers newspapers for all guests
Performs shoe shine for guests as per procedure
Assists the Night Manager in special tasks i.e. setting up beds and hotel lobby security
Clean and tidy the Concierge Desk and the Luggage Room
Follow the departmental logging procedures
Perform In-Room Dining duties, including delivery and serving of food and alcoholic beverages
Requirements:
You must hold a valid driving licence and be entitled to work in the UK as this position is not eligible for sponsorship
Previous experience as a Luggage Porter in a hotel would be beneficial but not essential
A smart and professional appearance
A positive attitude and good communication skills
A willingness to take on physically demanding job
Careful when driving guest's cars
