Job Description

This position is critical to equipment reliability and conveyor uptime. A strong lubrication program significantly reduces failures, improves asset life, and supports a proactive maintenance culture. The Lubrication Technician will play a key role in maintaining those standards.

Job Responsibility

  • Perform lubrication routes including greasing, oil changes, top-offs, and re-lubrication based on OEM requirements and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) strategies
  • Maintain proper lubricant inventory, storage, handling, and labeling according to contamination control standards
  • Ensure correct lubricant selection for each asset, referencing OEM specs and plant lubrication standards
  • Conduct routine inspections of bearings, motors, gearboxes, chains, couplings, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical assets
  • Identify and report abnormalities such as overheating, noise, leaks, misalignment, and contamination
  • Perform oil sampling, filter changes, and basic oil analysis tests (viscosity, moisture detection, particle assessment)
  • Record all lubrication activities in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Maintain up-to-date lubrication routes, schedules, and equipment lists
  • Document inspection findings and escalate issues and create work orders
  • Assist in developing and optimizing lubrication standards, routes, and PM tasks
  • Support root-cause analysis (RCA) for lubrication-related failures
  • Participate in reliability initiatives including 5S, contamination control, and continuous improvement projects
  • Provide feedback to improve equipment design for better lubrication accessibility and durability
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in industrial maintenance or mechanical systems
  • Basic understanding of lubrication principles and mechanical components
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation (PMs, OEM manuals, SDS sheets)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision
  • Certification such as ICML Level I (MLT I or MLA I) or willingness to obtain
  • Experience working with CMMS systems (HxGN, Maximo, Infor, etc.)
  • Experience with oil sampling, contamination control, or condition monitoring tools
  • Knowledge of lubricants (oils, greases, synthetics) and their applications
  • Understanding of equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, and bearings
  • Ability to work safely with chemicals and rotating machinery
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Proactive mindset with a reliability-focused approach
