The LTL Western Team Lead (TL) is responsible for overseeing the LTL Operations team for their assigned Network. This includes supporting each team member with day-to-day execution, escalation, and assisting them in their personal development. The TL is also responsible for the regional LOS, maintaining internal relationships, partner carrier development, cost management, and operational efficiency.
Job Responsibility:
Monitor, evaluate, and advise on day-to-day decision making of the Operations Support, LTL Coordinator, and Operations Weekend team
Report and measure network performance data to identify efficiencies and implement solutions
Guide the Operations Team to work with other areas of operations to successfully move product (i.e. fleet managers, planners, ABL, etc.)
Review internal and carrier tendering decisions made by the LTL Operations Team, providing guidance and feedback to improve service and improving operational efficiency
Play an active role in training, development, and succession planning by identifying team and regional needs and providing hands‑on support
Monitor daily performance, identifying network and operational improvement opportunities
Maintain strong cross-functional and partner carrier relationships
Assist in operation improvements such as implementing best practices and supporting continuous improvement discussions
Review carrier performance and assist with informed operational decision‑making
Monitor regional service levels and assist LTL Leadership in corrective action initiatives
Encourage proactive communication between LTL Operations and Customer Service teams
Review planning decisions to ensure service and efficiency standards are consistently met
Communicate and align LTL Operations strategies with Customer Service and LTL Pricing teams
Provide operational support to other business areas as required to help meet broader organizational goals
Requirements:
1-2 years related experience in transportation or a similar role
Ability to demonstrate success using strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to thrive in a multi-task, deadline orientated, high volume and fast-paced environment
Demonstrated attention to detail, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
Able to quickly adapt to changes, shift focus, meet deadlines, and complete time-sensitive tasks
Knowledge of the geography of North America
Knowledge of the Trucking Rules and Regulations, Service Capabilities and Standards, Freight Lanes and Rates
Proficiency with MS Office and the ability to learn complex programs
