Job Description

Elementa is working in partnership with a specialist SEND education provider in Dorking, Surrey, supporting children and young people who have experienced trauma and adverse childhood experiences. All students have an EHCP, primarily relating to Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and many may present with challenging behaviour. The school takes a holistic, therapeutic and creative approach to education, with a strong focus on helping pupils re-engage with learning, build confidence, and develop the life skills needed to achieve their full potential. The aim is to support students either back into mainstream education or towards positive long-term outcomes beyond school. The leadership team has created a positive, nurturing and progressive environment for both students and staff. Clear expectations, consistency, and relationship-based practice are central to the school's ethos, alongside a genuine commitment to staff wellbeing and professional development.

Job Responsibility

  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated English lessons
  • Supporting the development of reading, writing, spelling, grammar, and communication skills
  • Adapting teaching to meet a wide range of SEND and SEMH needs
  • Assessing, monitoring, and recording student progress
  • Supporting students' emotional regulation and engagement in learning
  • Producing reports and contributing to EHCP reviews where required
  • Working collaboratively with pastoral and therapeutic staff
  • Building positive, consistent relationships with students and promoting a love of literacy
