Job Description:

General Excavating is searching for a highly motivated and experienced Lowboy Driver. The driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating lowboy tractor trailers transporting large and heavy construction equipment to various construction sites throughout the state of Nebraska.

Job Responsibility:

  • Works with foreman, mechanics, and other operations staff to coordinate heavy equipment relocations
  • Ensures proper and safe loading, unloading, and securing of oversized/overweight equipment
  • Plans the best route for delivery of heavy equipment
  • Completes thorough load check inspections before each departure
  • Identifies and addresses potential delivery and pick-up problems
  • Use basic equipment operating skills to load and unload
  • Ensures all necessary permits and logs are up-to-date
  • Documents machine/equipment damage and reports immediately
  • Complies with all DOT, State and local traffic and highway laws
  • Completes and files all vehicle pre/post-trip inspections
  • Checks fluid levels, tires, lights, gas, oil, water, and other controls
  • May perform roadside basic roadside repairs as needed

Requirements:

  • Heavy equipment hauling experience required
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid Class A CDL and a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
  • Ability to pass and maintain DOT/FMCSA requirements for drug screens and DOT physicals
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Three (3) years minimum related experience and/or training
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Valid Class A CDL
