IT360 is seeking a Low Voltage Cable Technician to join our team in Peoria. This is a hands-on field role responsible for installing, terminating, labeling, testing, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems for business clients. You will work on commercial client environments including offices, shop floors, network closets, and related low-voltage infrastructure. We are looking for someone who takes pride in clean installs, accurate documentation, professional client interaction, and doing the job right the first time.
Job Responsibility
Install, route, secure, and dress low-voltage cabling in commercial environments such as office spaces, shop floors, and network closets
Terminate and test Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A cabling
Install and maintain patch panels, keystone jacks, wall plates, racks, and cable management systems
Label cables, ports, and related infrastructure clearly and accurately for easy identification and maintenance
Troubleshoot cable runs, failed terminations, and physical connectivity issues
Support cabling for network equipment, wireless access points, phones, cameras, and related low-voltage devices
Read and follow project scopes, floorplans, and installation standards
Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas on client sites
Accurately document work performed, materials used, and time entries in the ticketing system
Communicate professionally with clients and internal team members throughout projects
Install and dress patch panels, keystone jacks, wall plates, racks, and cable management systems
Maintain cable management systems: Implement and maintain cable management systems to support network infrastructure
Ensure a high standard of work and customer service and customer satisfaction
Work effectively on your own and in a team environment and communicate clearly with colleagues
Accurately track time, tasks, and expenses in the ticketing system
Stay current with industry trends, tools, and certifications
Requirements
2 or more years of experience in structured cabling, low-voltage installation, or similar field work
Experience terminating and testing Ethernet cabling
Strong understanding of cable types, connectors, labeling, and cable management best practices
Ability to troubleshoot physical layer connectivity issues
Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication and customer service skills
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials as needed
Ability to work on ladders and in ceilings, network closets, and other installation environments
Nice to have
Experience with patch panels, racks, wireless access points, cameras, or related low-voltage systems
Experience working in commercial client environments
Familiarity with cable testers, punch-down tools, tone/probe tools, and labeling systems
BICSI, OSHA, lift, or other relevant industry certifications
Experience reading floorplans or installation drawings
