The Low Demand Program Support Specialist works within a 24/7, low‑threshold residential program supporting Veterans experiencing homelessness who may also have mental health or substance use disorders. This role provides safety oversight, crisis intervention, and direct support using harm reduction, trauma‑informed, and person‑centered approaches, while collaborating closely with internal teams and community partners.
Job Responsibility:
Provide direct support within a 24/7, low‑threshold residential program serving Veterans
Maintain program safety by responding to and de‑escalating crisis situations as needed
Utilize harm reduction and trauma‑informed approaches when engaging with program participants
Communicate and document relevant shift information, incidents, and follow‑up actions
Collaborate closely with operations staff and internal program teams to ensure continuity of care
Assist participants by connecting them to referrals and resources to meet immediate needs
Provide coverage or oversight across low‑threshold programs as needed to ensure staffing continuity
Requirements:
Associate’s Degree required
3-5 years of experience working with individuals with mental illness, substance use disorders, or other vulnerable populations
Demonstrated knowledge of Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma‑Informed, and Person‑Centered Care
Proven skills in crisis intervention and de‑escalation
