We are seeking enthusiastic, assertive, and reliable individuals to join our team as a Long-Term Cover Supervisor in the Crawley area. This role offers stability and the opportunity to truly embed yourself within a school community. It is perfect for those considering a career in teaching, recent graduates, or experienced professionals who enjoy working with young people and maintaining a purposeful learning environment. You will not be required to plan lessons or mark work. Your key tasks will include: Classroom Supervision: Oversee classes across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 (ages 11-18) during teacher absences, ensuring students remain focused and on-task with pre-set work. Behaviour Management: Effectively implement the school's behaviour policy, maintaining a positive, orderly atmosphere and dealing with any immediate issues promptly. Supporting Learning: Respond to general queries from students regarding their work, helping them access materials and stay engaged (no subject-specific teaching required). Administrative Duties: Register student attendance and leave detailed, accurate notes for the returning teacher regarding lesson progress and behaviour. School Ethos: Act as a positive role model, promoting the school's values and maintaining high expectations for all students. What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate will possess: Confidence & Presence: Strong behaviour management skills and the confidence to lead a classroom of secondary students. Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly with teenagers. Relevant Experience: Previous experience working with groups of young people (e.g., school settings, youth work, coaching, camp leading). Qualifications: A degree is advantageous, particularly for those considering future teacher training, but not essential. Traits: Reliability, punctuality, flexibility, and a collaborative approach to working across different schools and subject areas. Safeguarding: A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people (an enhanced DBS check will be required). What We Offer Stability: The security of a consistent, long-term placement in a supportive secondary school environment. Career Stepping Stone: Invaluable classroom experience-ideal preparation for future teacher training (PGCE / SCITT). Professional Growth: Opportunities for ongoing training and professional development. Competitive Pay: Attractive daily rates paid weekly.
