As a Logistics Technician at our customer`s cutting‑edge Discovery Centre in Cambridge, you will be at the heart of a well‑orchestrated logistics operation that keeps vital scientific work moving. From managing deliveries and vehicle movements to handling sensitive scientific materials, you’ll directly support research that contributes to life‑changing science every day.
Job Responsibility:
Use bespoke systems to manage and monitor vehicle traffic on site
Safely and efficiently inspect, load, and unload goods from delivery vehicles
Operate material‑handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks, in line with safety procedures
Inspect deliveries for damage and verify accuracy against shipping documentation
Maintain accurate and compliant records of all incoming and outgoing goods
Support safety compliance by promptly reporting deviations, hazards, or operational risks
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment in the loading bay
Coordinate with internal departments and external suppliers to resolve logistics queries
Adhere to quality protocols and actively contribute to continuous operational improvements
Support site security procedures and ensure proper handling of regulated materials
Assist with gas farm operations, including monitoring stock levels and completing safety inspections
Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to KPI reporting and process improvements
Requirements:
GCSE or equivalent secondary school qualification
2+ years in a warehouse, loading bay, or customer‑facing logistics position
Experience with goods handling, traffic management, or stock control
Previous use of inventory/logistics software preferred
A valid forklift operator qualification is desirable (training may be available)
Demonstrates a high regard for safety and protocol compliance
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Strong attention to detail with effective problem‑solving abilities
Adaptability to changing priorities, workloads, and operational demands
Good organisational and time‑management skills
Nice to have:
A valid forklift operator qualification is desirable
Previous use of inventory/logistics software preferred
