The Surface Freight – Sourcing Intelligence Manager is a key role within the Global Logistics & Spares Supply Chain Sourcing (GLSS) organization, responsible for owning regional surface transportation sourcing intelligence for HPE. The role also builds future-ready sourcing capabilities, including analytics and data models needed to support large-scale, TMS-enabled RFQs and digital sourcing processes.
Job Responsibility
Own regional surface freight sourcing intelligence across FTL, LTL, and brokerage markets to enable consistent, data-driven sourcing decisions
Develop and maintain lane-level and market benchmarks to support RFQs, negotiations, and budgeting
Provide analytical support for RFIs, RFQs, and renegotiations, including rate normalization, scenario modeling, and total landed cost comparisons
Partner with sourcing leads to strengthen negotiations using fact-based targets and sensitivity analysis
Apply standardized savings and cost-avoidance logic to ensure consistency, auditability, and credibility
Track negotiated vs. realized savings and identify leakage risks through structured analysis
Monitor key cost drivers such as fuel indices, accessorials, labor, capacity, and regulatory changes
Translate market signals into actionable insights for sourcing and supply assurance strategies
Support TMS-enabled and digital RFQ processes by defining analytics and data requirements
Drive continuous improvement in sourcing analytics using advanced Excel, BI tools, and AI-enabled techniques
Identify opportunities for structural cost reduction and network optimization
Work closely with Global Logistics Sourcing, Finance, Contracts, Operations, and Digital teams to align analytics with business objectives
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Analytics, Finance, or equivalent
MBA or advanced degree preferred
8–12 years of experience in logistics pricing, sourcing analytics, transportation procurement, or supply chain analytics, with strong surface transportation exposure
Proven experience supporting RFQs, negotiations, carrier selection, and commercial evaluations
Strong understanding of surface freight cost models, including FTL/LTL pricing, accessorials, fuel mechanisms, and network concepts
Excellent understanding of global procurement processes, industry, and complex suppliers
Ability to convert complex data into clear, actionable sourcing insights
Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint and communicating findings
Experience with sourcing optimization tools (e.g., Coupa) preferred
Working knowledge of SQL, Power BI or similar analytics tools, and familiarity with AI-enabled analytics is a plus
