Job Responsibility:
The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing the movement, distribution, and storage of materials in the organization
This position controls the flow of incoming materials and outgoing finished products to ensure customers receive products on time
The Logistics Manager oversees the warehouses, inventory control, material handling, customer service, transportation, Hazmat/Dot training and regulations and Shipping personnel
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, hire, and train and evaluate employees, prepare employee schedules, and ensure transportation, warehousing and distribution employees follow all safety rules
The position may prepare reports for upper management, negotiate shipping and supplier costs, and work to improve efficiency of the company's supply chain
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in: Logistics, Business Management, or Industrial Management, and 5 years of professional shipping & receiving experience
or equivalent work experience
Ability to create and/or maintain policies and procedures for Shipping/Warehouse functions particularly those associated with ISO 9001 regulations
Ability to maintain various TMS database systems related to customer shipments
Experience with negotiating and coordinating the transportation of products from multiple warehouses
Ability to resolve problems concerning transportation systems, imports/exports, and customer issues
Ability to analyze financial impact of proposed logistic charges (routing, shipping modes, etc.)
Ability to communicate with team members, supervisors and leadership regarding daily production
Ability to utilize computer programs to input, monitor, research and track orders according to customer requirements
Working knowledge of MS Office Word, Access, Project and standard industry operations software and databases
Proficient knowledge in Excel and ERP systems
