Our client, a major Oil and Gas company, is looking for a Logistics Lead to work on a 12 months contract in Houston, TX. The Logistics Lead is a key project role on a complex capital project and will be relied upon as the SME regarding logistics strategies and plans, global movements/transportation of equipment and materials, traffic, import/export compliance, customs regulations, and import formalities during Major Capital Project (MCP) development and construction.
Job Responsibility
Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide strategic input, knowledge, and guidance to Capital Projects
Lead the development of the logistics freight profile in collaboration with EPC contractors and key stakeholders
Ensure planning of the integrated materials management system and provides visibility of project equipment and materials
Collaborate with the PPM and/or project team members to ensure that identified risks have effective mitigation plans that are captured in the risk register
Lead the planning and management/interface with 3rd Party Logistics (3PL) providers regarding ports, marine voyage, roads, heavy haul, module transport, infrastructure and safe transportation, delivery and preservation of project equipment and materials
Oversee the execution of the tactical Logistics and Materials Management activities by the vendors, fabricators, 3PL and construction field Materials Management teams
Ensure organizational capability within the MM team effectively meets project requirements and ensuring resources required to complete the work are in place
Oversee EPCM Materials Control interface with Work Face Planning, including systems, reporting and physical bag & tag, required to support the construction schedule
Oversee execution of physical field Materials Management including spares, warehousing and laydown, Over, Short and Damaged (OS&D), surplus disposition and the physical turnover of materials and equipment at the conclusion of the construction phase of the project Phase 4
Work with Major Capital Projects MCPs during Concept Select (Phase 2) and Front End Engineering and Design (Phase 3) phases of projects to ensure the development of an effective Logistics Strategy in alignment with contracting strategy alternative(s) and Business Unit requirements
