The Logistics and Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing all logistics, materials management, inventory control, and warehouse functions to ensure efficient flow of materials and support for production operations. This role collaborates closely with Purchasing, Planning, and Production teams to maintain optimal inventory levels and drive continuous improvement in performance. The manager leads a team to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in shipping, receiving, inventory and management, while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and lean operations.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee all warehouse, shipping, and receiving operations and personnel
Maintain inventory control systems to ensure accurate perpetual inventory and minimize variances
Conduct regular inventory analysis to optimize stock levels, reduce excess and obsolete inventory, and support working capital goals
Facilitate and supervise the annual physical inventory and lead cycle count programs to ensure accuracy
Manages plant level tactical buying of purchased material
Participate in the SIOP (Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning) process to align inventory levels with production and sales forecasts
Lead daily expedite processes and actively participate in all levels of production meetings
Develop, monitor, and report on key metrics, including inventory accuracy, past-due orders, recovery plans, and freight costs
Track and minimize premium freight usage
manage freight costs and logistics service providers
Identify areas for process improvement and implement lean methodologies to enhance operational efficiency, quality, and safety
Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives and cost-reduction projects across logistics and materials functions
Support ISO certification and compliance with company quality systems
Provide effective leadership to employees, including training, coaching, performance reviews, and conflict resolution
Identify and develop high-potential individuals for future leadership opportunities
Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures, with accountability for attendance, conduct, and overall employee performance
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment
Participate in daily, weekly, monthly, and annual planning meetings and contribute to strategic decisions
Maintain regular attendance and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Operations Management or related field is a plus
5+ years of experience in logistics, materials management, or supply chain, preferably in a manufacturing environment
5+ years in a leadership role managing warehouse and logistics personnel
Strong knowledge of inventory management, lean principles, and materials planning
Certification in APICS, CLTD, or Lean Six Sigma is a plus
