An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant Paediatrician to join a well-established paediatric service in Ireland. This role offers a diverse scope of practice across acute paediatrics, neonatal care, and community-based services, with a particular focus on neurodisability. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across both hospital and community settings.
Job Responsibility:
Provide consultant-led paediatric care across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings
Deliver care in both general paediatrics and neonatal services
Assess, diagnose, and manage children with developmental conditions and neurodisability
Support and collaborate with Children's Disability Network Teams (CDNTs) to deliver coordinated care
Conduct community-based clinics across the regional catchment area
Participate in the consultant on-call rota, including emergency paediatric care
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists, nurses, and community services
Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
Maintain high standards of clinical documentation and patient safety
Requirements:
Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent)
Specialist registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) (Specialist Division)
Relevant postgraduate qualification in Paediatrics (or equivalent)
Extensive experience as a Consultant Paediatrician, including neonatal care
Experience in managing paediatric patients across acute and community settings
Experience in neurodisability, including developmental assessment and management
Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
Strong clinical decision-making in paediatrics and neonatology
Ability to manage children with complex developmental and neurodisability needs
Excellent communication skills with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Ability to work independently and across multiple care settings
Ability to travel to community clinics across the region
Full driving licence and access to transport
Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care
