Job Responsibility

  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic neurosurgical procedures to the brain, spine and peripheral nerve surgeries, among others
  • Evaluate patients through physical examinations, imaging studies and diagnostic tests to determine the need for surgical intervention
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans
  • Provide preoperative and postoperative care
  • Monitor and interpret patient conditions during and after surgery, adjusting treatment plans as needed
  • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school
  • Residency training program in neurosurgery accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA)
  • Board certification in neurosurgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS) or an equivalent certifying body
  • Active and unrestricted medical license in Virginia
  • At least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting
  • Extensive knowledge of neurosurgical principles, techniques and technologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent manual dexterity and precision
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm and make critical decisions under pressure
  • Flexibility to adapt to new work environments and different medical teams
