Locum Consultant in Paediatric Critical Care Job at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust (Sheffield)

Job Responsibility

Provide consultant cover for the Paediatric Critical Care Unit (PCCU)
Continuing responsibility for patients in your care, and for the functioning of the PCCU
On-call duties for PCCU
Provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence
Contribute to the training of individuals in paediatrics, adult intensive care, and advanced nurse practitioner

MBBS or equivalent
MRCPCH / FRCA or equivalent higher qualification
Fully registered with the GMC
Completion of training in Paediatric Intensive Care Medicine (minimum of two years) in a unit/rotation approved for training by the RCPCH national grid training programme with evidence that this has been signed off by the PICM ISAC including six months of anaesthetic training
Experience in paediatric intensive care and paediatric high dependency care
Experience in leading clinical teams to deliver high quality critical care in the in-patient setting
Ability to offer expert clinical opinions in complex clinical cases
Experience in assessing clinical situations and providing clinical advice on critical care remotely
Ability to prioritise and manage clinical workload
Basic experience in management, e.g., trainee rotas
Clear contribution to audit to effect change
Has interest in research and undertaken clinical projects
Ability to apply research and audit findings to clinical practice to improve patient outcomes
Teaching and training medical colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team
Commitment to continuing own professional development
Leadership skills
Ability to work harmoniously as part of a multi-disciplinary team

APLS/PALS provider
Experience in related sub-specialities
Experience in critical care transport medicine
Management course
Experience in quality improvement projects
Demonstration of research in Paediatric Intensive Care or Anaesthesia
Ability to provide clinical and educational supervision to junior colleagues
Willingness to contribute to additional professional responsibilities in the department
