An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced and motivated Locum Consultant in Acute Medicine to join an innovative and supportive department within the Yorkshire and Humber region. The service is expanding its team of Acute Physicians and is seeking four additional consultants to strengthen its delivery of high-quality acute care across its modern, integrated medical units. Job Responsibility:
Provide consultant-led clinical care to acute medical inpatients and contribute to the assessment and management of acutely unwell patients across SDEC and AMU
Deliver safe, effective, and timely clinical decision-making within a multidisciplinary environment
Participate in the acute medical on-call rota as required
Lead and support junior medical staff, speciality trainees, and medical students through supervision, mentoring, and teaching
Participate actively in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement, and research projects
Maintain high standards of professionalism in line with GMC requirements and contribute to the continuing development of the acute service
Take part in consultant appraisal, peer support, and the Consultant Development Programme during your first year in post
Ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with statutory and mandatory training programmes
Requirements:
Complete registration and licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC)
Recognised medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent)
MRCP (UK) or equivalent higher qualification
Minimum 1 year of NHS Consultant experience
Demonstrated independent clinical experience and skill in Acute Medicine and/or General Medicine
Experience in teaching and supervising medical students and junior doctors
Strong understanding of clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement
Eligible to work in the United Kingdom
Nice to have:
Substantive NHS experience in Acute Medicine or a related speciality
Higher degree (MD, PhD, or equivalent) or evidence of active research participation
Experience supervising speciality registrars or postgraduate trainees
Additional qualifications in medical education or leadership
