Job Responsibility
Provide comprehensive cardiac care to patients in various inpatient and outpatient settings
Perform diagnostic procedures such as electrocardiograms (EKGs), echocardiograms, and stress tests
Interpret diagnostic tests and develop treatment plans for various cardiovascular conditions
Perform cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures (depending on the cardiologist's subspecialty)
Educate and counsel patients on heart disease prevention, risk factors and healthy lifestyle choices
Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals (nurses, surgeons, specialists) to ensure coordinated patient care
Maintain accurate and complete medical records for all patients
Stay current on the latest advancements in cardiology through continuing education
Requirements
Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school
Residency training program in internal medicine accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA)
Fellowship training in cardiology (may be preferred depending on the position)
Board certification in cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the AOA
Active and unrestricted medical license in Indiana
At least one year of experience providing cardiac care in a clinical setting
In-depth knowledge of cardiology principles and practices
Strong clinical judgment and decision-making abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Technical proficiency in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures (if applicable)
Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to adapt to changing patient conditions
Time management and organizational skills
