Requirements

NYSDOT and/or locally administered Federal Aid project experience preferred
NICET Certification/pending certification or NICET equivalent experience/education required
Strong communication skills, both written and oral
Experience with APPIA or CEES software
Ability to read plans and specifications, complete daily work reports
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Job Responsibility

Coordinate and perform construction related on-site inspection activities
Review the performance of inspections completed by subconsultants/others when needed
Interpret construction drawings and specifications on construction projects
Communicate with clients, contractors, supervisors, and other inspectors regarding specifications and qualification test results and site progress
Maintain field notes and related documentation
Prepare daily reports including description of contractor work activities, labor and equipment identification and quantity, and perform various measurements for payment
Gather data and measurements to be used in the completion of checklists and quality assurance of various construction activities
Review Maintenance and Protection of Traffic
ensure safe working environment for workers and traveling public is provided by the contractor
Recommend approval of the work inspected (in compliance with the Contract Plans and Specifications)

Minimum of 3 years experience
Electrical installation and repair experience required
Experience with electrical work involving wiring up to 600 VDC and 480 VAC
Must possess a valid Journeyman License/Electrician Certification or equivalent per local and state requirements
Must maintain a clean driving record
Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license
Working knowledge of current NEC codes
Ability to interpret single line drawings and PV systems from roof to meter
Demonstrates knowledge of electrical principles as it pertains to solar interconnection/tie-in and code

Job Responsibility

Lead the installation of residential solar systems and batteries
Provide electrical expertise to ensure conformance to national and local building codes
Perform electrical work including main panel upgrades, electrical troubleshooting and service work, and commissioning
Work with the PV installation crew, filling in and performing other duties when necessary
Lead the crew in the absence of the Foreman
Lead the installation of electrical systems that interconnect our solar array to the grid power of our customer’s residential property
Ensure work performed by all electricians is of good workmanship and compliant with current NEC and local codes
Complete solar battery installations as assigned
Troubleshoot system problems and resolve electrical issues
Safely plan and complete Main Panel Upgrades (MPU)
