POSITION: Local Inspector (PT) GRADE: Grade 8: $38.53 – $49.86 DEPARTMENT: Inspectional Services DATE: March 31

Job Responsibility

  • Reporting to the Building Commissioner, the Local Inspector is responsible for examine plans for building construction repairs and alteration to existing buildings to determine compliance with State Codes, local Zoning Bylaws and other applicable regulations, issues appropriate permits
  • Inspect new buildings and repairs and alterations of existing buildings during construction and upon completion, for conformity with all code requirements, approved plans and zoning restrictions
  • Conductions periodic inspection of exiting buildings, as required by statue. Reviews plans for approval and provides the Building Commissioner with information relative to recommendations for approval
  • Responds to citizen complaints and mediated disputes
  • investigates alleged violations and takes necessary action
  • maintains detailed records of inspections and investigations
  • answers questions from the general public and officials pertaining to the Building Code, zoning and flood plain issues.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience in the supervision of building construction or design and zoning enforcement
  • or an associate degree in a related field
  • or an equivalent combination of education and experience, in accordance with MGL c 143. Must possess Massachusetts Certification as a Local Building Inspector. Must have knowledge in the following computer programs, Access, WordPerfect, Microsoft Work, Microsoft Outlook. Must be familiar with on-line processes.

  • In coordination with INL Pristina, the TOC Advisor will work and engage with interagency, regional, international, and host-nation partners on foreign assistance programs related to organized crime and complex criminal investigations.
  • The TOC Advisor is expected to lead or coordinate the following training activities as part of the core competencies expected of the position: Intelligence-led policing operationalization
  • Network-based TCO investigations
  • Financial investigations/asset tracing, including Suspicious Transaction Report (STR) exploitation and beneficial ownership analysis
  • Digital Forensic and Incident Response (DFIR) integration
  • Police–prosecutor investigative support including case coordination and development.
  • Investigative cooperation with U.S. interagency and law enforcement. The TOC Advisor will provide daily advice, mentorship, and ad hoc training to the KP and others to enhance investigatory best practices specifically to deter and effectively investigate transnational organized crime. The TOC Advisor will identify deficiencies in skills, then determine a course of action to effectively address the needs.
  • As necessary, the TOC advisor will provide specific case-based advice to host-nation law enforcement and prosecutors on investigations.
  • The TOC Advisor will work with ICITAP HQ and INL to develop project plans and budgets for ongoing and future law enforcement initiatives in Kosovo. The TOC Advisor will oversee the operational and administrative implementation of INL-funded TOC projects in Kosovo.
  • The TOC Advisor will serve as a law enforcement expert advisor for INL-funded assistance programs (implemented via ICITAP) in Kosovo.
