TOWN OF MILTON JOB POSTING POSITION: Local Inspector (Full Time) GRADE: Grade 8: $38.53 – $49.86 DEPARTMENT: Inspectional Services DATE: June 26 RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Building Commissioner, the Local Inspector is responsible for examine plans for building construction repairs and alteration to existing buildings to determine compliance with State Codes, local Zoning Bylaws and other applicable regulations, issues appropriate permits. Inspect new buildings and repairs and alterations of existing buildings during construction and upon completion, for conformity with all code requirements, approved plans and zoning restrictions. Conductions periodic inspection of exiting buildings, as required by statue. Reviews plans for approval and provides the Building Commissioner with information relative to recommendations for approval. Responds to citizen complaints and mediated disputes; investigates alleged violations and takes necessary action; maintains detailed records of inspections and investigations; answers questions from the general public and officials pertaining to the Building Code, zoning and flood plain issues. REQUIREMENTS: Fives years of experience in the supervision of building construction or design and zoning enforcement; or an associate degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, in accordance with MGL c 143. Must possess Massachusetts Certification as a Local Building Inspector. Must have knowledge in the following computer programs, Access, WordPerfect, Microsoft Work, Microsoft Outlook.
