Job Description

Are you an experienced professional looking to take the next step in your career with a stable, rewarding union position? Our client is seeking a dedicated Class 1 Driver to join their dynamic team for a local, short-haul operation in DELTA, BC. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for transporting high-quality products across the beautiful landscapes of the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island. This opportunity is perfectly tailored for a skilled professional who values consistent daytime hours, a robust safety culture, and the long-term stability that comes with a unionized workplace. As a premier position within our skilled trades division, this role blends professional driving with occasional hands-on warehouse duties, offering a refreshing variety to your daily routine.

Job Responsibility

  • Operate and drive straight trucks and tractor-trailers safely and efficiently to transport a variety of goods and materials across regional routes
  • Complete local and short-interurban deliveries, managing schedules effectively within the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island
  • Perform comprehensive pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring full compliance with all transportation regulations
  • Monitor vehicle condition closely, checking equipment, load security, and cargo integrity to prevent damage or safety hazards
  • Load and unload freight manually or with material handling equipment, ensuring the safe and secure handling of all client products
  • Assist with daily warehouse operations during peak periods or between runs, including order picking, organizing, and inventory handling
  • Operate a forklift or reach truck safely within the warehouse environment to move, stack, and stage heavy pallets and shipments
  • Maintain accurate delivery records, structural logbooks, and transport documentation in alignment with provincial compliance standards
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, occupational health guidelines, and Ministry of Transportation regulations at all times
  • Provide exceptional customer service when interacting with receiving teams and client representatives at various drop-off locations

Requirements

  • Valid Class 1 Driver's License issued by the province of British Columbia
  • Clean commercial driver's abstract demonstrating a proven history of safe driving and adherence to transportation laws
  • Verifiable hands-on experience operating straight trucks, tractor-trailers, or similar heavy machinery within a commercial capacity
  • Valid forklift or reach truck certification is a strong asset, or a firm willingness to undergo training and certification upon hire
  • Prior experience navigating commercial transport routes throughout the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island regions
  • Ability to comfortably perform physical tasks, including lifting, moving freight, and assisting with manual warehouse duties as needed
  • Commitment to maintaining a drug-and-alcohol-free workplace to ensure compliance with strict commercial safety standards
  • Must be legally entitled to work full-time in Canada for our client and pass any standard compliance or background checks required

What we offer

  • Highly competitive union wage of $30.20 per hour
  • Comprehensive full benefits package provided through the prestigious Teamsters Union
  • Stable, full-time weekday schedule (Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM) guaranteeing a consistent 40-hour work week with no weekend shifts
  • Excellent work-life balance with a local, short-haul focus that ensures you are home every single night
  • Dynamic work environment that combines professional driving with occasional warehouse operations
  • Opportunity to work with a reputable, safety-first company that invests heavily in well-maintained fleets and modern warehouse equipment
  • Transparent career progression, workplace protections, and structured wage growth provided by a supportive union environment
  • Direct access to Randstad's dedicated recruiters, who are industry experts here to support your long-term professional development
