Job Description:

The town of Acton is seeking a full-time Local Building Inspector reporting to the Building Commissioner.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepares daily work schedule
  • conducts and logs various activities
  • assists at service counter
  • communicates with citizens and contractors
  • schedules appointments both internally and externally
  • prepares letters
  • reviews plans on all approved permitted projects
  • communicates laws, requirements, ordinances of the appropriate model codes from builders, contractors, subcontractors, individual homeowners, and design professionals
  • inspects places for compliance and issues stop work orders

Requirements:

  • Valid Drivers License
  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Minimum of five years' experience in supervision of building construction or design or at least a two-year associates degree in field related to building construction or design or any combination of education and experience
  • Must be qualified by the MA BBRS per 780 CMR ch110.R7
  • Proven interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • ability to effectively interact and communicate with individuals of diverse backgrounds
