Job Description

We are looking for a highly organized Loan Processor - Support specialist to join our on-site team in California. This contract opportunity is ideal for someone who can manage real estate loan files with precision, maintain momentum across the lending pipeline, and deliver a smooth experience for applicants and internal partners. The role supports residential mortgage processing from documentation review through status tracking while ensuring accuracy, responsiveness, and adherence to regulatory and organizational standards.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage residential real estate loan files from initial intake through final processing, making sure each application moves forward efficiently and accurately
  • Examine submitted applications and supporting records to confirm all required information is complete, consistent, and ready for underwriting review
  • Gather, validate, and organize key borrower and property documents such as income records, credit information, appraisals, and title-related materials
  • Enter and maintain loan data within origination and servicing systems with a high level of accuracy and attention to compliance requirements
  • Communicate proactively with loan officers, underwriters, and applicants to resolve outstanding conditions, clarify documentation needs, and prevent delays
  • Respond to borrower questions throughout the lending process with clear, attentive service that supports a positive customer experience
  • Review loan packages for quality and regulatory adherence, helping reduce documentation gaps, processing errors, and compliance risk
  • Monitor pipeline activity and prepare status updates or production reports for leadership, including turnaround times, pending files, and overall volume
  • Partner with the broader lending team to strengthen processing workflows and contribute to ongoing training and operational improvement efforts

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience processing residential mortgage or real estate loans
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • additional education in business, finance, or a related discipline is preferred
  • Working knowledge of mortgage lending practices and common loan programs, including conventional and government-backed products
  • Experience with loan origination platforms and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar business software
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple files at once while maintaining accuracy, organization, and follow-through
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective coordination with applicants and internal lending partners
  • Familiarity with loan administration, mortgage processing, mortgage closing, mortgage lending, and loan origination activities
  • Prior experience in a credit union or community bank environment is preferred

  • Follow monthly exception and tickler reports to pursue recorded documents, insurance or policy requirements, and any outstanding post-closing items in a timely manner
  • Oversee active pipelines for new loans, renewals, letters of credit, and filing continuations while coordinating updates with loan officers and lending partners
  • Respond to servicing and operational inquiries, resolve routine loan issues, and process both financial and non-financial loan maintenance requests, including debit and credit transactions with awareness of general ledger impact
  • Contribute to team collaboration through meetings, cross-training, and coverage support during high-volume periods while adhering to regulatory standards and internal banking policies
