Job Description

Loan Originator is responsible for developing and managing client relationships to originate a variety of loan products including personal, auto, mortgage, and business loans. This professional serves as the primary point of contact for loan applicants, guiding them through the process from initial inquiry to closing. The Loan Originator is expected to drive business growth by networking, identifying prospects, assessing client needs, and delivering exemplary customer service while ensuring full compliance with banking and regulatory guidelines.

Job Responsibility

  • Proactively source and generate new loan business through community involvement, networking, marketing campaigns, and referrals
  • Evaluate applicants' financial backgrounds, needs, and creditworthiness using bank guidelines and lending standards
  • Explain loan options, terms, and requirements to prospective borrowers, helping them select the best financial products to meet their goals
  • Collect and review necessary financial documentation from applicants to start the loan process
  • Complete loan applications and submit accurate, timely paperwork to the processing and underwriting team
  • Maintain regular communication with clients throughout the application and approval process, providing updates and resolving questions or concerns
  • Meet or exceed established sales and customer satisfaction goals
  • Stay current on loan products, industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory requirements
  • Develop and maintain relationships with realtors, builders, and related professionals to cultivate referral business opportunities
  • Ensure all loan files are maintained and processed in compliance with bank policies and government regulations

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • associate’s or bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field preferred
  • Prior experience in loan origination, banking, or financial services is highly desirable
  • Strong sales, relationship-building, and negotiation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously
  • Familiarity with lending regulations (e.g., RESPA, TILA, HMDA, TRID) preferred
  • Proficiency with banking software and Microsoft Office Suite
