Job Description:

Motivated and ambitious livestock systems specialist to work primarily on delivering and expanding our range of consultancy projects. The role involves working within our well-established livestock consultancy group with flexible hybrid home & office working, with support from one of our offices. Projects are primarily located in Wales/the Borders, with opportunity to work in other parts of the UK.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver and expand range of consultancy projects
  • Work within livestock consultancy group on ruminant and poultry work
  • Concentrate on ruminant consultancy with farmers, government, and supply chain
  • Support industry adaptation to policy changes and sustainability agenda
  • Implement innovation to improve productivity
  • Gather information and draft reports
  • Visit farms and other premises
  • Prepare bids for new livestock consultancy projects
  • Identify new business opportunities

Requirements:

  • Degree or postgraduate qualification relevant to livestock or related science subject with relevant practical experience
  • Excellent report writing skills using MS Word
  • Data handling using MS Excel
  • Willingness and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication
  • Good computer literacy with Microsoft Office suite
  • Full driving licence and own transport
  • Flexibility in the range of work undertaken
  • Willingness to travel

  • Guide clients through hay and silage production planning — including crop selection, timing of harvest, and quality assessments to ensure consistent feed value year-round
  • Analyse feed and water test results to assess nutritional risks and develop seasonal mineral supplementation programs aligned with livestock requirements
  • Work closely with rural stores to deliver product training, seasonal planning, and support related to the company’s proprietary mineral supplement range (TPM)
  • Conduct regular follow-up visits to farms to assess animal performance and adjust recommendations based on seasonal conditions and client feedback
