Job Description

A great opportunity to join a lovely bilingual French/Australian family in their beautiful home, located a five-minute walk from Kensington High Street. The family are seeking a mature, caring and experienced nanny to provide excellent care for their little boy, born August 2024. The little boy is happy, sociable and in a very good routine. He will be starting nursery in September for three hour mornings, Monday to Friday, and enjoys classes, groups, playdates and activities. The family currently have a nanny who is leaving due to a change in personal circumstances, and they would ideally like a handover period of a couple of weeks to ensure a smooth transition. This is a shared care role: both parents are at home, with the mother being very present and involved in her son’s day, and the father working from a home office. The successful candidate will be a confident self-starter who brings a relaxed yet professional approach, and who understands their role as providing the highest standard of care to the little boy while supporting the family with ease and warmth. The family also have a four-year-old Golden Retriever with his own dog walker. He is trained, friendly and a much-loved member of the household. Start date: 1st August 2026.

Job Responsibility

  • Providing attentive, loving and age-appropriate care to the little boy throughout the working day
  • Managing the morning nursery routine (from September) and facilitating all classes, groups, playdates and activities
  • Preparing fresh, nutritious meals and snacks for the child — all nursery duties to be managed by the nanny
  • Maintaining the child’s routine and continuing to support its development as he grows
  • Accompanying the family on occasional travel as required and agreed
  • Holding the baby monitor overnight (the little boy rarely wakes)
  • Liaising warmly and professionally with both parents, recognising the shared care nature of the role
  • Working collaboratively with the family’s housekeeper, who handles the baby’s laundry on a five-day-a-week basis

Requirements

  • Experienced and confident working with babies and toddlers
  • Mature, caring and calm in their approach
  • A self-starter who is active, hardworking and takes initiative
  • Flexible and adaptable in approach to hours and schedule
  • Professional in manner, with a clear understanding of the shared care dynamic
  • Experienced in preparing fresh, nutritious meals for young children
  • Comfortable living in a family home on a Monday – Friday residential basis
  • French speaking (desirable)
  • A valid DBS certificate or willing to undergo a DBS check
  • Paediatric First Aid certificate (current)
  • Excellent references from previous private household positions
  • Right to work in the UK
