We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Live-in Estate Guardian or Guardian Couple to oversee the daily maintenance, presentation, security, and guest support operations of a private luxury property in the Gard region of Occitanie, France. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in the stewardship and smooth running of an exceptional private estate. The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for maintaining the property and grounds to the highest standards while supporting guests, coordinating services, and ensuring the estate remains secure and well presented. A permanent position (CDI) is offered, with private on-site accommodation and a company vehicle provided. Start date: Sept 2026.
Job Responsibility
Overseeing the daily maintenance, presentation, and security of the estate and surrounding grounds
Maintaining gardens, pool areas, and outdoor spaces
Carrying out basic repairs, troubleshooting, and general handyman tasks
Preparing and presenting guest rooms, shared areas, and exterior spaces to a luxury standard
Welcoming guests and providing assistance throughout their stay
Coordinating housekeeping teams, gardeners, contractors, chefs, wellness practitioners, and external service providers
Supervising maintenance, restoration, and improvement projects
Managing supplies, inventories, deliveries, and estate equipment
Providing airport and train station transfers, as well as local driving duties when required
Supporting private retreats, events, and exclusive-use guest stays
Conducting property inspections before and after guest visits
Monitoring alarms, gates, access controls, and security systems
Providing after-hours assistance and emergency response support when required
Requirements
Previous experience as a château guardian, estate guardian/couple, property caretaker, estate caretaker, hotel concierge, or in a similar private property
Strong practical maintenance and handyman skills (preferred)
Right to work in EU/France
Experience coordinating contractors and external service providers
A professional, discreet, trustworthy, and guest-focused approach
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently
Comfort living and working on-site in a rural environment
A valid driving licence
Fluent French language skills
Conversational English strongly preferred
Availability to commence employment on 1 September 2026
