The Broadcast and Live Events Producer is responsible for overseeing the production and coordination of various broadcasts and live events, ensuring their successful execution and seamless delivery to our audiences. The Broadcast and Live Events Producer will collaborate with various teams, including production crews, talent, technicians, and stakeholders, to ensure the highest level of quality and professionalism in all aspects of the production process. The Live Events Producer is an execution‑first, on‑site event leader whose core responsibility is run‑of‑show ownership and backstage execution.
Job Responsibility:
Manage end-to-end production lifecycle of live events, from creative concepts to post-event analysis
Develop scalable production playbooks, standards, and models
Partner with stakeholders and technical experts to design creative stage design, and production strategies
Oversee all technical production elements — staging, lighting, sound and streaming
Collaborate with Communications, and academic departments to align messaging, scheduling, and objectives
Collaborate with creative teams to produce motion graphics, videos and other show assets
Manage backstage operations on live events
Serve as liaison between WGU clients and production teams to coordinate content, scheduling, and logistics
Develop and manage production schedules, run-of-show documents, and timelines
Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders
Coordinate entertainment bookings
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, communications, media production, film, or a related field
equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
5+ years of hands‑on experience producing live events, including end‑to‑end ownership from planning through on‑site execution and post‑event evaluation
Demonstrated experience developing, managing, and executing detailed run‑of‑show documents, production schedules, and timelines
Proven experience serving as the on‑site production lead, including backstage management, show calling, and real‑time decision‑making during live events
Experience producing large‑scale, complex live or hybrid events for large organizations, agencies, or production houses
experience in higher education or corporate environments preferred
Strong project management capabilities
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with executive leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders
Working knowledge of live event production workflows, tools, and technologies, including event and production management software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, run‑of‑show or similar tools)
Ability to remain composed under pressure, adapt quickly during live execution, and apply sound judgment in high‑stakes, time‑sensitive environments
Ability to travel up to 30% and work across multiple time zones as required by event schedules
Portfolio or Work Samples of live events they have produced
