We are looking for an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support a dynamic legal team specializing in defense litigation in Houston, Texas. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with extensive knowledge of civil trials, appeals, and arbitration processes, along with a strong ability to manage diverse litigation tasks. The successful candidate will exhibit exceptional organizational skills and technical proficiency to ensure effective case management from start to finish.
Job Responsibility:
Handle all stages of litigation, including pre-litigation investigations, drafting pleadings, discovery, motions, trial preparation, and post-trial procedures
Prepare and review legal documents such as subpoenas, motions, discovery responses, and correspondence while adhering to federal and state court regulations
Organize and manage document production, coding, and indexing in both electronic and physical formats
Maintain up-to-date case calendars, monitor deadlines, and coordinate court appearances and filings
Coordinate depositions, witness preparation, exhibits, and trial binders to ensure seamless trial logistics
Conduct legal research, perform cite-checking, and analyze data using legal databases
Communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, court personnel, and third-party vendors to facilitate case progress
Compile trial materials, demonstrative exhibits, and witness lists to support court proceedings
Assist with settlement documentation, appellate filings, and post-trial activities
Ensure compliance with firm policies regarding document retention and confidentiality while maintaining accurate case files
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a litigation paralegal, preferably in defense litigation or related fields
Proficiency in litigation support tools and case management software such as Relativity, ProLaw, or similar systems
Strong knowledge of civil procedure, discovery practices, and court rules at both state and federal levels
Excellent organizational and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced legal environment
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders
Paralegal certification from an accredited program is preferred but not mandatory
Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet critical deadlines under pressure
