An established San Francisco-based law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. The firm handles a broad range of civil litigation matters, including business disputes, real estate litigation, personal injury defense, insurance claims, and complex tort litigation. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior litigators, providing key litigation support in case management, discovery, trial preparation, and court filings. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience managing complex case files in California courts.
Job Responsibility:
Assist attorneys in all phases of civil litigation, including case assessment, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation
Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other legal documents in state and federal courts
Manage case files, maintain litigation calendars, and track deadlines to ensure timely filings
Oversee the discovery process, including document review, drafting responses, and preparing exhibits for depositions and hearings
Coordinate depositions, schedule expert witness testimony, and organize trial preparation materials
Conduct legal research using Westlaw and LexisNexis to support case strategy and motion practice
Assist in preparing trial exhibits, witness outlines, and case summaries to support attorneys during hearings and trial
Work with eDiscovery platforms to manage document production and case files
Requirements:
Certificate from an ABA-approved program with 3-7 years of experience as a civil litigation paralegal
Strong knowledge of California civil procedure and court filing requirements
Experience handling discovery processes, including document review and deposition coordination
Proficiency in legal research tools, such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, and PACER
Ability to work in a fast-paced litigation practice, managing multiple cases and deadlines
Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail
Familiarity with legal technology platforms, such as Relativity, iManage, or CaseMap
Ability to work on-site in San Francisco up to 5 days a week (hybrid schedules may be considered)
