Job Description:

A mission‑driven firm focused on complex civil litigation involving environmental law is seeking a contract-to-hire Litigation Paralegal/Secretary to support six attorneys. This is a fully remote role for candidates based in California with strong civil litigation experience. Environmental experience is not required. A laptop will be provided, and the team offers a collaborative, high‑impact workflow environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage full docketing and calendaring across state and federal matters
  • Track deadlines, local rules, and judge‑driven timelines across multiple jurisdictions
  • Support case workflow and anticipate upcoming needs for attorneys
  • Prepare and format pleadings, TOCs, TOAs, exhibits, subpoenas, and proofs of service
  • File pleadings and manage service of process
  • Handle new matter openings and engagement agreements
  • Support limited discovery (interrogatories, form discovery, exhibit organization)
  • Assist with multi‑jurisdiction case filings and case cover sheets
  • Maintain organized workflows in Clio and Google Drive

Requirements:

  • Based in California
  • California civil litigation experience
  • Strong case management, calendaring, and rule‑tracking skills
  • Experience supporting state and federal court filings
  • Comfortable with multi‑jurisdictional filings and varying local rules
  • Strong executive function, organization, and adaptability
  • Able to work with a variety of attorney personalities
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and shifting case timelines
  • Teachable and open to learning new workflows and systems
  • Experience in Clio and Google Drive
