A boutique California law firm based in Newport Beach is seeking a seasoned Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys handling sophisticated, high-value civil matters. The firm represents private equity groups, closely held businesses, corporate executives, fiduciaries, and high-net-worth individuals in disputes where precision, discretion, and strategic execution are critical. The practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, shareholder and partnership disputes, fiduciary litigation, financial elder abuse claims, trade secret and unfair competition matters, and professional negligence actions. Cases are often heavily contested, document-intensive, and handled in both state and federal courts. This role is designed for a mid-to-senior-level paralegal who enjoys being deeply embedded in active litigation. You’ll work closely with attorneys on cases involving significant financial exposure, taking ownership of core litigation functions and playing a critical role in preparing matters for mediation, arbitration, and trial. The firm values paralegals as integral members of the legal team and offers meaningful responsibility from day one.
Job Responsibility:
Manage litigation files from pre-litigation investigation through resolution
Oversee discovery strategy implementation, including document organization, productions, and subpoenas
Prepare and maintain complex chronologies, issue summaries, and damages support materials
Assist with motion practice, including exhibit preparation and filing coordination
Support depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trial preparation
Coordinate with clients, experts, vendors, and opposing counsel as needed
Maintain court calendars and ensure compliance with procedural deadlines
Requirements:
4+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal in a California law firm
Strong exposure to complex civil or commercial litigation matters
Excellent organizational skills and comfort managing document-heavy cases
Experience billing time and meeting annual billable expectations
Paralegal certificate required
