We are looking for a skilled Litigation Legal Secretary to join our dynamic legal team in Oakland, California. In this role, you will provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to attorneys across various practice areas. The ideal candidate will excel in managing legal documentation, maintaining organization, and ensuring seamless communication within a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare, format, and revise legal documents, pleadings, correspondence, and forms based on handwritten drafts, notes, or dictation
Proofread legal materials thoroughly to ensure accuracy in spelling, grammar, and formatting
Handle electronic court filings in both state and federal courts with precision and efficiency
Manage scheduling and calendaring for meetings, depositions, hearings, and other legal events
Provide legal calendaring support to track deadlines and court dates
Assist attorneys with special projects and general administrative tasks as needed
Facilitate the opening and closing of legal matters with attention to detail
Compare, edit, and finalize documents using document comparison software to produce redlined versions
Collaborate with attorneys to complete complex assignments under tight deadlines
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a litigation legal secretary within a law firm environment
Proficiency in Office 365, Adobe Acrobat, or FoxIt for document handling and formatting
Familiarity with document management systems such as iManage, Filesite, or NetDocs
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting
Keen attention to detail and advanced proofreading capabilities
Willingness to work occasional overtime to meet deadlines
