We are looking for an experienced Litigation Legal Secretary to join our team in San Diego, California. This Contract to permanent position offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with a dynamic group of attorneys specializing in labor and employment litigation, business litigation, insurance defense, and workers' compensation. The role provides flexibility with a hybrid work arrangement, combining onsite and remote work.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare and organize legal documents, including discovery packets and trial binders, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness
Manage court filings and e-filing processes for both state and federal courts, adhering to deadlines and procedural requirements
Coordinate schedules and maintain calendars for attorneys, ensuring efficient time management and conflict resolution
Proofread and edit legal documents to ensure compliance with formatting and content standards
Handle administrative tasks such as correspondence, document management, and client communication
Assist attorneys in project management, ensuring timely completion of case-related tasks
Conduct research and compile information relevant to cases, supporting attorneys in their litigation efforts
Organize and maintain physical and electronic case files for easy accessibility and reference
Monitor case deadlines and provide reminders to attorneys to ensure compliance with legal timelines
Collaborate with attorneys and staff to facilitate smooth workflow and communication within the team
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a legal secretary, preferably in civil litigation
Strong knowledge of labor and employment litigation, business litigation, insurance defense, and workers' compensation
Proficiency in assembling discovery packets and trial binders, including creating tables of authorities and contents
Familiarity with state and federal court filing systems using Odyssey, including e-filing procedures
Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail
Excellent proofreading and editing abilities to ensure accuracy in legal documents
Experience managing calendars and schedules for attorneys
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
