A busy firm in the West Caldwell area is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant to join their growing firm. This Litigation Legal Assistant will get the chance to join a stable firm that offers work schedule flexibility and an excellent work/life balance. This Litigation Legal Assistant will provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to attorneys in all phases of litigation. The ideal Litigation Legal Assistant will have extensive litigation experience and be local to the West Caldwell area.
Job Responsibility:
Support attorneys throughout all stages of litigation, including pre-trial, trial, and post-trial activities
Draft, format, and proofread legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and correspondence
File legal documents electronically in state and federal courts (e-filing) and manage court deadlines and calendars
Maintain and organize case files, exhibits, and supporting documentation
Coordinate depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial logistics
Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and vendors in a professional manner
Assist with discovery processes, including document production, review, and tracking
Prepare trial binders, exhibits, and witness materials
Conduct basic legal research and gather case-related information as needed
Track billable time and assist with time entry and expense reporting
Requirements:
3+ years of litigation legal assistant or legal secretary experience
Strong knowledge of court procedures, rules, and e-filing systems (state and federal)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
High level of professionalism and confidentiality
Experience in specific practice areas (e.g., personal injury, insurance defense, commercial litigation)
Familiarity with document management systems and e-discovery platforms
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or Paralegal Certificate
