We are seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant with 5+ years of relevant experience to support a busy Chicago office. This candidate will provide critical administrative support to attorneys and paralegals, ensuring exceptional client service and efficient operations.
Job Responsibility:
Offer outstanding client service when greeting guests, responding to requests, scheduling meetings, and handling calls
Provide proactive administrative support for litigation teams and assist other practice areas as needed
Maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate strong attention to detail
Respond to requests with urgency and prioritize work effectively
Communicate with court personnel, attorneys, and staff to exchange information and resolve issues
Prepare and review correspondence and legal documents using document management systems
Proactively track and monitor deadlines
Process payment and reimbursement requests
Manage, organize, and retire files in accordance with office policies
Assist in managing client contacts, emails, print documents, and process incoming mail
Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
Transcribe dictation and file documents electronically with courts
Draft documents and filings as required
Requirements:
5+ years of litigation support experience in a law firm or other legal setting
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
experience with Kofax/Nuance, InTapp, LMS+, iManage, or similar systems preferred
Deep understanding of litigation processes and general court operations
Ability to read, identify, and interpret legal pleadings and related documents
Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
Capability to work overtime as needed
Education beyond high school or coursework related to the legal industry is preferred
