Litigation Legal Assistant / Legal Secretary Position Overview: A well-respected law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to support attorneys within a fast-paced litigation practice. This role is ideal for a highly organized, service-oriented professional who can provide strong administrative and document support while adapting to evolving team needs. While the position will ultimately focus heavily on litigation support, the initial scope will include a combination of litigation-related responsibilities and broader administrative tasks. This structure allows for a deliberate ramp-up in workload while ensuring consistent support across the team. The role plays a key part in maintaining organization, responsiveness, and quality within attorney workflows, directly supporting client service and overall team effectiveness. Job Responsibility

  • Manage complex calendars, coordinate meetings, and track deadlines across multiple matters
  • Assist attorneys in prioritizing commitments and maintaining organized workflows
  • Handle time entry, expense reports, and general administrative requests
  • Serve as a liaison between attorneys and internal departments (e.g., accounting, operations, administrative support teams)
  • Provide coverage and collaborate with other legal support staff as needed
  • Draft, format, proofread, and finalize legal documents, including pleadings, motions, correspondence, and internal materials
  • Ensure all documents meet applicable court rules and internal standards
  • Coordinate and support electronic filings in state and federal courts
  • Maintain document consistency, accuracy, and version control
  • Proactively identify formatting or content issues and resolve them efficiently
  • Assist with matter organization, file management, and document tracking
  • Support attorneys with preparation of filings, exhibits, and case-related materials
  • Coordinate logistics for depositions, hearings, and other case events
  • Track deadlines and ensure compliance with court requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • equivalent law firm experience will be considered
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience supporting litigation attorneys
  • Strong knowledge of court filing procedures, including e-filing systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and document management tools
  • Experience with timekeeping and billing or accounting systems is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
