A nationally recognized law firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Docket Specialist to join its docketing team. This position supports attorneys and legal professionals by managing court deadlines, calendaring requirements, and complex litigation-related processes across multiple jurisdictions. The role operates on a hybrid schedule and is based in New York.
Job Responsibility:
Manage all responsibilities typically associated with a Litigation Docketing Clerk or Docketing Specialist, including comprehensive calendaring and deadline tracking
Oversee docketing for a broad range of case types, including but not limited to civil, criminal, probate, family, eminent domain, and complex litigation matters
Review court orders, filings, and procedural rules to accurately calculate and enter critical deadlines
Conduct research on federal, state, and local court rules and jurisdiction-specific requirements
Provide guidance and support to docketing team members
assist with training and ongoing development
Manage specialized docketing matters such as writs, liens, bonds, provisional remedies, injunctions, and temporary restraining orders
Handle sealed matters and sensitive litigation with a high level of discretion and confidentiality
Monitor and communicate court rule changes and procedural updates to legal staff
Recommend enhancements to calendaring procedures, workflows, and docketing software
Create and maintain internal resource guides and best practices documentation
Troubleshoot docketing and calendaring software issues and liaise with vendors as needed
Requirements:
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage high-volume, deadline-driven work in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
In-depth knowledge of federal and state court rules and litigation deadlines
Ability to interpret court orders and identify calendarable events
Experience researching local rules and procedural requirements
Familiarity with legal terminology, citation, and court protocols
Strong working knowledge of CompuLaw Vision or comparable docketing/case management software
Bachelor's degree or associate degree preferred
relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Minimum of 7+ years of litigation docketing experience
Prior large law firm experience strongly preferred
