World Business Lenders (WBL) provides general purpose short-term real estate collateralized commercial loans to a broad customer base comprised of small and medium sized businesses throughout the United States that lack access to traditional funding. This is a Contract/Consultant position. Generally, working hours will be 9:00am-6:00pm Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, although hours worked may be greater based upon operational requirements. The job requires excellent oral and written command of the English language.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and oversee legal strategies in response to litigation, regulatory inquiries, and investigations
Provide legal guidance and risk assessments throughout the lifecycle of disputes
Supervise and manage daily operations of internal litigation teams
Select, engage, and oversee outside counsel handling litigation and investigations
Monitor legal spend and manage litigation budgets to ensure cost-effective outcomes
Draft and implement internal policies and procedures for managing disputes and government inquiries
Ensure consistent reporting and communication of litigation updates to executive management and the Board
Coordinate with business units to gather information and ensure alignment on legal strategies
Maintain organized records of case files, correspondence, and supporting documents
Review and approve litigation-related documents, including pleadings, discovery responses, and settlement agreements
Establish legal protocols for responding to subpoenas, government notices, or regulatory demands
Maintain awareness of relevant legal developments affecting ongoing or potential litigation
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Requirements:
Law degree
from a nationally accredited U.S. law school required
Knowledge of US legal practices, US law and regulations preferably related to commercial lending, financing applications required
Admission to practice law in the US preferred
6-10 years of experience with law firm required, in-house desirable
Demonstrated leadership and project management experience
Excellent command of the English language (both written and verbal)
Excellent organizational, communication both written and verbal) and technology skills
Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, supervise, manage and develop attorneys and staff
Strong legal research, document drafting and writing skills
Superior analytical skills
Excellent business judgment, as well as practical and creative problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously, while establishing and maintaining effective work relationships both internally and externally
Detail-oriented and resourceful with excellent follow-through skills
