Job Responsibility:
Overseeing complex litigation matters handled by outside counsel
Strong focus on billing oversight, compliance with litigation guidelines, and responsible cost management
Evaluating legal spend, identifying trends, and ensuring defense strategies and expenses align with internal standards and applicable agreements
Requirements:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience, legal audit experience, or a related role involving oversight of litigation matters
Working knowledge of general liability litigation and familiarity with insurance coverage concepts and claims practices
Experience reviewing, auditing, or analyzing legal invoices from outside counsel for reasonableness, accuracy, and compliance with established guidelines
Ability to evaluate settlements, billing arrangements, and jurisdictional considerations to ensure cost and coverage alignment
Strong analytical skills, with attention to detail and the ability to identify trends, cost drivers, and opportunities for improved efficiency
Demonstrated ability to provide clear, professional feedback to external law firms and internal stakeholders regarding billing and litigation management issues
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, co-counsel, or third-party partners on complex matters
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare summaries and reports for leadership
Comfort working in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
