A respected boutique business law firm in Atlanta is seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney to join its dynamic practice. This full‑time role is based in the firm’s Buckhead office and offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated commercial and tax‑related disputes in a collaborative, professional environment. The attorney will handle a diverse docket of civil litigation, including complex commercial matters, business disputes, and—where applicable—tax controversy work. This role is well‑suited for an attorney who enjoys managing cases hands‑on, interacting directly with clients, and taking ownership of matters from inception through resolution.
Job Responsibility:
Manage cases through all stages of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, hearings, trials, and appeals
Draft and refine pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and related litigation documents
Conduct legal research and prepare written analyses, memoranda, and strategy recommendations
Represent clients in court appearances, hearings, depositions, conferences, and mediation
Advise clients on risk, litigation strategy, and dispute‑resolution approaches
Maintain case calendars, deadlines, and overall litigation workflows in coordination with attorneys and staff
Handle tax‑related disputes, including administrative proceedings, audits, IRS examinations, appeals, and court filings (experience preferred but not required)
Work closely with partners, associates, and paralegals to ensure efficient and well‑coordinated case management
Requirements:
J.D. from an accredited law school
Active Georgia bar admission (or the ability to waive in)
3+ years of litigation experience in a law firm or equivalent setting
Strong understanding of civil procedure, discovery rules, and motion practice
Exceptional research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple matters and deadlines
Nice to have:
Experience representing clients in U.S. Tax Court or state tax tribunals
Background in tax controversy matters such as audits, administrative appeals, or IRS examinations
Prior work on complex commercial litigation or regulatory matters
Hands‑on courtroom, hearing, or deposition experience
