Job Description

We are looking for a Litigation Attorney to join a growing legal team in California. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for an attorney with civil litigation experience who is ready to take on increasing responsibility and contribute to a busy practice. The role offers the chance to work across active matters, build deeper ownership of cases over time, and support clients through key phases of the litigation process.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee civil litigation matters through each stage of the case lifecycle, from initial review through settlement or other resolution
  • Prepare, revise, and respond to written discovery, pleadings, motions, and related legal filings with accuracy and strong attention to deadlines
  • Develop clear case updates, written reports, and client communications to keep stakeholders informed on progress and next steps
  • Represent the firm at hearings, conferences, mediations, and other court-related proceedings as needed
  • Contribute to litigation strategy by organizing case materials, evaluating developments, and supporting preparation for major milestones
  • Assist with insurance defense assignments, including work performed in a billable environment
  • Provide near-term support on active overflow matters such as reporting and status tracking, with the opportunity to transition into direct case ownership

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience practicing civil litigation as a licensed attorney
  • Background in construction defect matters is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to draft motions, briefs, discovery requests, and discovery responses
  • Strong legal writing, analytical thinking, and case assessment skills
  • Experience balancing multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced legal setting
  • Prior exposure to insurance defense work is helpful
  • Active attorney license required
