We are looking for a Litigation Associate (5 – 10 PQE) to join our litigation practice in its growing BVI office. This role will be based in the BVI reporting to the Managing Partner of the BVI practice and will also work closely with the firm’s US-based litigators on complex cross-border matters. The successful candidate will support a range of company, commercial, insolvency and trust litigation matters in the BVI and internationally. Sterlington’s litigation partners come from BigLaw and other well-recognized firms. You will work in an ambitious, agile, and high-performing team that is committed to delivering excellent results and associate development. The role suits an individual with BigLaw experience who is looking for more hands-on experience.
Job Responsibility:
Researching potential legal theories and arguments across a wide range of commercial disputes, including with international clients, and advising on matters involving cross-border elements
Advising international clients on commercial and corporate disputes, including shareholder, director, contractual and trusts disputes
Involved in business development activities and revenue generation
Communicating (verbally and in writing) with clients
Strives to continue improving the brand and culture of Sterlington BVI
Requirements:
5 -10 years PQE
Completed a training contract within a UK Top 100 law firm or strong litigation boutique or top tier offshore law firm
Experience working in an international offshore law firm preferred
Solicitor-Advocate admission preferred but not essential
Experience working on a broad range of commercial disputes, including with international clients, and advising on matters involving cross-border elements
Possess a consistently strong academic record
Track record in business development
Works well autonomously, as well as a part of a wider team
Excellent academics and references are essential
Qualified in England and Wales, Scotland or the BVI
Nice to have:
Solicitor-Advocate admission
Experience working in an international offshore law firm
