Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Linux Support Engineer to support Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) platform operations, with a focus on vCMTS and RPHY systems. This role supports a nationwide, mission‑critical production environment and requires strong hands‑on experience with Linux/server operations, automation (Ansible), and core routing protocols (BGP and OSPF). This is a true platform operations role—not just scripting or surface‑level networking. Candidates must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of routing protocols, troubleshoot real production issues, and operate confidently in a 24x7 environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Operate and support vCMTS and RPHY platforms following established operational processes
  • Support DAA platform stand‑up, including software installation, system configuration, and lifecycle maintenance
  • Perform system and network change implementations including: Platform upgrades, Risk management, RMA activities, Automation via scripting
  • Actively participate in incident mitigation for production vCMTS environments
  • Identify recurring service issues and trends
  • partner with development teams to implement long‑term corrective solutions
  • Participate in a 24x7 on‑call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Work closely with product and project management teams to operationalize new platforms and features
  • Partner with regional engineering teams to improve platform reliability and build operational automation
  • Support problem management efforts across network, system, and platform layers

Requirements

  • 3+ years of production operations experience in a 24x7 environment
  • Strong, hands‑on experience with Unix/Linux server environments
  • Strong experience with automation and configuration management, including: Ansible (required), Scripting in Python and/or Bash
  • Demonstrable understanding of core routing protocols, including: BGP (route advertisement, peering, failure scenarios), OSPF (areas, metrics, convergence behavior)
  • Proven experience with network troubleshooting and configuration in production environments
  • Experience working with network devices from vendors such as: Juniper, Arista, Cisco
  • Strong experience troubleshooting server hardware and operating system issues
  • Ability to analyze incidents across system, network, and application layers
  • Comfortable working in fast‑paced, high‑availability operations environments
  • Willingness and ability to participate in after‑hours on‑call rotation, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to clearly explain networking fundamentals (including BGP and OSPF) during technical discussions
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset with attention to root‑cause analysis and long‑term stability

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting DAA or cable access network architectures
  • Experience with vCMTS and RPHY platforms
  • Experience with: Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git
  • Experience defining, implementing, and monitoring IT services
  • Exposure to new product integration and platform launches
  • Networking certifications such as CCNA or JNCIA (preferred, not required)
