Job Description

G5 - Linux Server Administrator (Intermediate L1 / Junior L2) Role Summary: G5 admins handle moderately complex Linux server issues with a deeper understanding of OS components, file systems, services, and basic networking.

Job Responsibility

  • Perform in-depth L1 troubleshooting: High CPU/memory consumption, Service failures with dependency analysis, Filesystem permissions (chmod/chown)
  • Manage user and group administration (creating, modifying, locking accounts)
  • Troubleshoot SSH, sudoers, and authentication related issues
  • Analyze Linux logs using: /var/log/messages, /var/log/secure, Application logs
  • Support patching cycles (pre-checks, post-validation, failure reporting)
  • Work with backup teams for file/directory restore requests
  • Manage disks and LVM basics (logical volumes, mount issues)
  • Validate cron jobs and scheduled tasks
  • Mentor and support G4 team members.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years Linux operations/NOC experience
  • Strong command-line skills
  • Understanding of systemd, package management (yum/apt), log analysis
  • Basic networking (DNS, routing table checks, iptables basics).
