The Linux First Line Support role is responsible for delivering effective technical assistance to software developers working in Linux (Ubuntu) environments. The role ensures that developer machines are consistently configured, secured, and optimized. It includes resolving first-line issues, maintaining system stability, and supporting daily development operations while adhering to company policies and compliance requirements.
Job Responsibility:
Provide first-line Linux (Ubuntu) technical support to software developers, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and queries
Deploy, configure, and maintain developer machine environments, including packages, tools, Eclipse, Java, and other essential development components
Perform routine Linux/Unix system administration tasks to support system reliability, performance, and security
Maintain a high level of current knowledge of systems, technology trends, and communication tools relevant to the role
Maintain clear and accurate documentation of configurations, troubleshooting steps, and processes
Attend company events and meetings as requested
Travel within Cyprus or abroad when required
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Strong Linux/Unix command line skills with familiarity in system configuration and troubleshooting
Knowledge of package management, software installations, development tools (e.g., Eclipse, Java, Git), and workstation configuration
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Strong aptitude for learning with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
Ability to work independently as a self-starter while supporting collaborative team environments
Good communication skills with the ability to support users of varying technical backgrounds
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to compliance and security protocols at all times
Abide by all Communication Group and Albourne Group policies and procedures
Ensure all actions, decisions, and system changes meet internal compliance standards
Experience working with Linux/Ubuntu systems in a support or administration capacity
3+ years of related work experience is considered an advantage
Basic understanding of networking, development environments, and IT support workflows
