Linux Administrator

• Assess the current computing environment to identify research-specific needs and design optimized system configurations
• Implement and streamline software setups to migrate existing systems to upgraded environments
• Evaluate and select virtualization technologies that align with research and security requirements
• Collaborate with vendors and procurement teams to acquire necessary hardware and software
• Architect and maintain virtualization and storage solutions that support virtual machines with high redundancy
• Design and implement network and security solutions for physical and virtual servers across multiple locations
• Build, manage, and troubleshoot Linux-based virtual machines designed to support research databases
• Ensure systems meet project-specific requirements and adhere to best practices for performance and security
• Provide ongoing maintenance and support for Linux systems, ensuring reliability and scalability
• Perform additional duties as needed to support organizational goals

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Linux system administration
• Proficiency in Red Hat Linux (RHEL) and related technologies
• Strong knowledge of server virtualization tools such as VMware, KVM, and Hypervisor
• Experience with storage and virtualization architecture, including redundancy solutions
• Familiarity with Oracle and research database environments
• Solid understanding of network and security principles for server and storage setups
• Ability to collaborate effectively with vendors and cross-functional teams
• Background in computer programming is a plus
