Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced and safety-focused Line Mechanic to join our Construction and Maintenance team. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring the reliable delivery of electricity across our network from constructing and maintaining overhead lines to operating key equipment up to 33kV. If you take pride in practical, hands-on work and want to contribute to essential infrastructure, this could be the ideal role for you.

Job Responsibility

  • Construction and maintenance of overhead electrical lines
  • Ensuring all work meets customer, project, and network requirements
  • Contributing to developing work plans for the construction, servicing, and upgrading of electricity lines and associated equipment
  • Installing and replacing overhead conductors and pole structures as needed
  • Overhauling non-load-bearing pole hardware in electrical networks up to 110kV
  • Operating both ground-mounted and structure-mounted electrical equipment for lines up to 33kV
  • Working safely, efficiently, and to a consistently high professional standard

Requirements

  • EWRB Registration Line Mechanic (required)
  • NZ Driver Licence (required)
  • HT Licence (highly desirable)
  • Additional competencies relevant to the network or customer (advantageous)
  • Proven experience working on overhead lines
  • Strong commitment to safety, with an excellent safety record
  • Reliable team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and customers
  • Experience within an electrical maintenance and construction environment
  • Experience working in high-risk environments, with a strong commitment to safety protocols
